Why use professional photography?

You have a business with a first class product to sell, so why use second rate imagery?

Through careful lighting and composition professional photography can highlight whether a product is well made and emphasise important features. If the image doesn’t convey to the viewer all the necessary information they will quickly move on.

A product photograph must show in detail the shape, colour and texture of that product.

Anything less and the only point of difference is what? Price? Or some other competitive attribute.

Similarly lifestyle imagery used in advertising should create an impression that the customer can relate and aspire to, with a “Yes, that is me. I’ll have that.”

When placing images of your products on-line or in catalogues you are trying to convince customers to make a purchase. But buying on-line or through catalogues eliminates much of the need for shoppers to visit a store. It also eliminates the tactile experience of handling the product.

Professional photography can overcome some of these limitations. Your image becomes a primary sales aid to differentiate your product from a competitors. In the end excellent photography is your contact with your customer. So why would you settle for a second rate experience?
